Natural Herbal Weight Loss
by Isaac Anderson

A lot of over the counter weight loss herbs are available these days. These herbs are effective and help in weight loss due to their thermogenic nature, and their ability to stimulate the body’s metabolism rate. Some of these herbs also affect appetite, giving you a feeling of “fullness” so you end up eating less, helping you to lose weight. However, not all of these herbs are safe to use, and if you are suffering from a medical condition like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, have a weak heart or stomach problems then you should avoid taking those weight loss herbs which can cause serious side effects. Some weight loss herbs act as diuretics, and lead to a loss of body fluid, making you think you have lost weight. The problem with these kinds of herbs is that they only work for as long as you are taking them. Once you stop taking them, you will gain back any lost weight.

Weight loss herbs to avoid
Herbal weight loss supplements like Hoodia and Ephedra should be avoided as they can cause serious and even life threatening side effects. Ephedra should be avoided by people suffering from heart disease as the herb increases the body metabolism, heart rate and respiration rate, leading to an increased risk of heart palpitations, stroke and heart attack. Hoodia, on the other hand, acts like a hunger suppressant, by tricking the brain to think that you are full. This herb should be avoided by people suffering from diabetes as it will not give an indication when the blood sugar level falls. If the blood sugar level of the patient falls to a dangerously low level, it can lead to a stroke. Therefore, if you are suffering from any medical condition, you should consult your physician before taking any kind of weight loss pill.

Safe weight loss herbs
According to FDA (Food and Drug Commission), there are some herbs which may safely aid weight loss, without causing any serious side effects. These include the following:

Cayenne – Cayenne works by stimulating the digestive process and increasing metabolism, helping the body to burn fat.

Green tea – Green tea works more like caffeine and contains Vitamin C and antioxidants which stimulate the body metabolism, helping you to lose weight.

Seaweed – Seaweed is a natural thyroid stimulant, which is known to boost the body metabolism. It is also known as kelp. However, people taking any kind of thyroid medication should avoid taking kelp.

Nettle – Nettle tea is commonly used to curb appetite and food cravings, and is known to assist in weight loss. It is also rich in vitamins and minerals including Vitamins C and E, calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium.

Ginseng – Ginseng has gained a lot of popularity as a magic herb which not only helps in weight loss but also has the potential to cure many illnesses from fatigue to stress. It is also highly effective in controlling diabetes.

Apart from taking these herbs, I would recommend Herbal Magic for natural weight loss.

Make sure you avoid foods that contain fats and increase the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. You can also take soluble fiber supplements in your diet as they give you a feeling of being full by adding bulk when you take water or other fluids with them. These fiber supplements also relieve problems like constipation and keep the digestive system healthy.
