Second annual Powwow. This is an educational powwow. Any one wishing to
help will be appreciated. Native storytellers and demonstrators and
craft vendors, dancing, drumming, singing, tee pee demonstration, flint
knapping, pipe carving, etc.. The powwow will be at the swim area and
the educational part will be at the Forest Edge Amphitheater. Free
performance by Dave Trezak on Saturday nite after the powwow
activities. Hours: Friday and Saturday 9-9 and Sunday 9-5. The park
opens at 8:00 AM and the vendors will open at 8:30. The powwow will
start at 9AM and will switch off with the educational events about every
hour and a half. Schedules will be available about two weeks before the
event. 6 miles North of Wilkesboro, N.C. on US 421 at Mile Post 293.
Turn south on South Recreation Road to the park entrance. There is a
$1.00 park a fee and admission donation of $5.00 for Adults and $2.00
for Children. Friday is Kids Day (children get in for $1.00). We are a
501 c 3 corporation and all donations will receive a legal tax write off
receipt.
